WHAT DID YOU DO?

The key for learning is doing something practical, finding creative solutions and especially comprehending and „touching“ contents. Student’s basic educational spectrum should become broader by individualised and differentiated teaching in all subjects. The student’s must be able to follow their own individual learning paths. What you experience in art class could be written in German or English class, calculated or designed in maths and realised in handicraft lessons with support.  There are five creative projects running in the project oriented, open classes during the whole year.

HOW DID YOU DO IT?

Teachers are functioning as coaches, accompanying and supporting learning and developmental processes individually. The class means to bring the concept of an “inclusive human being” alive. Lesson plans are mainly created in teams of two or three. iPads play an important role in the lessons and are  frequently used. Tasks are being created with "Edmodo" – a learning management system – where the students find all the necessary files.  Various apps (e.g. Quizzes) help students to work individually and according their own pace.

WHY WERE TABLETS USED/WAS IT BENEFICIAL?

The learning platform Edmodo helps to provide more individual and differentiated scope of learning materials and is therefore used in several subjects. Thus, tablets become a natural resource in teaching. Students can learn contents independently via learning videos in their own pace following the concept of flipped classrooms. They can specialize according to their interests and communicate with their teachers. The flipped classroom approach offers teachers more time for coaching and individual support during class. Moreover, students gain digital competencies, which enable them to use digital media better and be critical. These competencies further help to navigate through the available flood of online information and to cope with today’s ever changing technical circumstances.

HOW DID IT SUPPORT INCLUSIVE TEACHING?

The possibility of working individually with a tablet lets students learn in their own timeframe, repeat contents as often as wished, and organise their own breaks according to their needs. The tablet’s multimedia options are another strong suit, because they serve different preferences in learning and presenting contents.
