WHAT DID YOU DO?

I use Geogebra in my lessons, I find that it is a dynamic piece of software that allows for all levels in my classroom. It brings geometry and algebra together in a simple to use format.

HOW DID YOU DO IT?

I get the students to graph points, use the formulae for co-ordinate geometry and be able to visually see the midpoint, the distance and slope between points. This is an area that cannot be taught to this level without the use of ict. The students have results visually and instantly.

WHY WERE TABLETS USED/WAS IT BENEFICIAL?

I use the tablets for this; as students can instantly plot the points, visually see their results help them to make sense of their work. It is easy to use interface and has many powerful features.

HOW DID IT SUPPORT INCLUSIVE TEACHING?

Using geogebra allows the more able students to go work on to more higher order questions, for example working with the slope, where the lines intersect and to work out the simultaneous equations. For the less able students it allows them to be prompted, it allows them to visually see their work, which they would often not be able to work out fully I believe that inclusive education describes the process by which a school will attempt to respond to all pupils by restructuring its curricular organization and allocate resources to enhance equal opportunity. For our school which is a band 1 DEIS, to be able to provide opportunities such as the use of tablets to enhance their education is essential and worthwhile.
